Six by Six Challenge Post 2

Hello and welcome to post two of the  6 x 6 challenge.

For today's cards I'm using the same five papers from Post 1 and this sketch from Operation write home:

And I was able to make FOUR more cards today.  Here they are in no particular order:

Adding today's four cards, brings my grand total to six cards so far from this 6 x 6 stack.

Snowy Winter Fun!

So I happened upon this fun challenge from the Addicted to CAS blog, thanks to Dorothy.  The code word for their first challenge is "snow."

Here is the cute little card I made thinking about snow:

I love this wonderful snowy scene.  It's a journaling card from Echo Park's Winter Wishes collection.  The scene was so cute that I wanted it to be the star of the card, so I kept the rest of the card pretty simple.  

I created a simple Polaroid frame for it.  I finished off the card by heat embossing a sentiment from PTI's Vintage Picnic in silver at the bottom of the frame.

And there you have it!  A quick and simple snowy CAS card!

I hope this card serves up some winter fun  inspiration for all of us OWH card makers participating in the midweek throwdown!

Six by Six Challenge

Hello.  My name is Nathalia, and I'm a paper hoarder.  :)  I guess it's no real secret how in LOVE I am with all the cute paper that's available to us as papercrafters.  I was recently moving a few things around in my craft room and discovered just exactly how much paper I have in my stash.  Yikes!

So I plan to focus on stashing-busting, MAJOR stash-busting!

I'm starting with a method I read about in this OWH post.  The post-writer explained how she took one 6 x 6 pad of paper and turned it into 24 cards.  And this blogger managed to make 54 cards out of a single 6 x 6 pad.  How cool is that?!?!  So I'm going to give this method a whirl!  My plan is to see how many cards I can make out of one 6 x 6 pad.  So Hang onto your hats because here we go!

I've selected this pad called Reunion by My Mind's Eye as my challenge paper:

I love using these OWH sketches.  They put the measurements on the sketch so I don't have to sit there and try to eyeball sizes!  These are the first two cards that I came up with:

So I'm at two cards from this pad so far!

CAS-ual Fridays Winter Blues Challenge

So you know me, I can't make just one card for a challenge.  So here's my second card for CAS-ual Friday's CFC79 Winter Blues Challenge.

This card is the exact opposite of my first card.  There's no designer paper used on this one.  Everything you see is stamped!  I stamped and masked my sentiment using SU's Night of Navy ink.  Next I stamped several different snowflakes using the same ink as the sentiment.  I stamped each image twice so that I have a darker and lighter shade.  To finish off the card I used a silver gel pen to add a line.

CFC79 Winter Blues

Hi all!  Just stopping in with a quick post tonight.  CAS-ual Friday's challenge this week is entitled CFC79 Winter Blues, and the idea is to create a card using the color blue.  So here's my cute little card:

I used paper from DCWV's Arctic Winter stack.  I fussy cut the snowball flag from coordinating DCWV paper and stamped "Hiya" from PTI's Hello Sunshine stamp set.  To finish the card, I added mini pom-poms to look like snowballs.

 

Season's Greetings Card

I hope you survived Thanksgiving and black Friday!  We had a wonderful first Thanksgiving in our new place!  My husband is such an amazing man.  He stepped up and took care of most of the meal (without being asked or anything!!!) so that I could spend time visiting with my family.  He even set the table!  I'm telling you, I found myself a good man!

Well, enough chit-chat.  Let's get to today's card.

It's a quick little card I made using a sketch I return to pretty regularly.  I added a few Studio Calico wood veneer snowflakes to spice things up!

Floral Missing You

Happy Tuesday!

This is turning into quite a hectic work week for me.  So I'm popping in to share one quick card today.  It's a (gasp) non-holiday card!  It's so strange to switch gears back to creating "regular" cards.

Anyways, enough chit-chat.  Here's my card:

I've been focused on creating DP-heavy cards lately because I am drowning in DP and I need to start using it up.  So it was nice to take a break from that and get some real stamping in!

All the stamps on this card are from the Sew Nice set from Avocado Arts.  

I love all the sewing themed elements!  Aren't they fun?

I started by masking off the sentiment and bottom portion of the card.  I then used the flower from this set to create the background on the top of my card.  To finish off the card, I added one of the faux stitching stamps from the set, along with a heat embossed, fussy cut flower as my focal point.

I will definitely be making this card again!  I can't wait to try out different color combos and sentiments.

Canvas, Cork, and Burlap Challenge

Hello again (I think is the fourth post today!).

Well, I had just one last card I wanted to share with you.  It's for Moxie Fab World's Canvas, Cork, and Burlap Challenge.

Here's my card:

This is by far one of my favorite cards ever!  I started by dry embossing a white piece of paper and hitting it with the faintest spritz of glimmer mist.  I attached the white embossed piece to a kraft card base.  I wrapped the card in burlap ribbon and gathered it one side.

I embellished the card with a flower.  I used two sizes of scallop punches and vellum paper to create the layered flower.  I added a sparkly button as my center and two leaf die cuts made using PTI's Rosie Posie dies.  I stamped the "Thank You" sentiment onto white ribbon using black Staz-On Ink.  All the embellies were attached to the card using A LOT of glue dots!

One More Journaling Card Card

Like I said, I really LOVE to use journaling cards in my card making.  It truly is like an instant card!  So of course I had to play along with Moxie Fab World's Journaling Card Challenge!

Here's my card:

I believe this journaling card came from a Cosmo Cricket collection.  I love that it's tag shaped!  So I punched a hole in the top and added a little ribbon.  I added a few strips of Echo Park's Sweet Day collection behind the tag to really highlight it.  I finished the card off with a cute little yellow button.

Winter Squares

Sorry for all the posts today but there are just too many fun challenges ending today that I want NEED to play along with!

Moxie Fab World has a challenge going called the Square Punch Challenge.  The challenge was to use a square punch in an innovative way.  I used my square punch to create a "quilted" background for a wintry snowflake.

This was a simple card to make.  I punched nine square out of three coordinating papers from Echo Park's Winter Wishes collection.  I glued all my squares down and used a silver gel pen to faux stitch around each of the squares.

Next I used my Cricut to cut out an over sized white snowflake.  I attached the snowflake to the card and traced around it with a silver gel pen to give a little more presence and sparkle on the card.  I finished the snowflake off with a large clear rhinestone.

The Snow Day sentiment was trimmed out of a journaling card from the same Winter Wishes collection.  I popped the sentiment up using a little foam adhesive.

Baby It's Cold Outside!

I love to use journaling cards in my cardmaking!  It's a quick and simple way to create a focal point, and they are just too darn cute!  So when I saw that Moxie Fab World was having a Journaling Cards Challenge, I knew I had to play!

Here's my card:

I used a journaling card from Echo Park's Winter Wishes collection.  Isn't he the cutest little snowman?!?!  I shaped the "Baby it's cold outside" sentiment stamp to fit the curve of the banner and stamped it on the journaling card in Color Box Charcoal Fluid Chalk Ink.

I placed several snowflake die cuts around the edge of the navy background and sprayed it with a silver frost glimmer mist to add a little extra sparkle and subtle detail to the background.  I couldn't stand to let the masking snowflakes go to waste, so I added two of them to the front of the card along with a silver metal snowflake brad!

So there you have it, a cute and quick and easy way to use journaling cards in your card making!

20 Christmas Cards in 20 Days

So the Card-a-Day gals have unofficially/officially decided to challenge ourselves to making 20 Christmas cards in 20 days.  I'm always down for a good challenge.  So here we go!

I thought, hey, this is the perfect opportunity to try out a "One Sheet Wonder."  One Sheet Wonder, for those who don't know, is where you take one sheet of 8.5" by 11" DP paper, add ten card bases and embellies and out comes ten cards.  Sounds good, right?  Easy-peasy.  Not for this girl!

I think I got maybe three cards out of it.  Sigh.

I love the idea of the One Sheet Wonder, and I will definitely be trying it again, hopefully with better results!

A Little Birthday Love!

A little birthday love for my dear friend Jenny! It was her birthday last weekend and all the girlfriends (and our husbands) came from all over to celebrate!  It was a fabulous time.  Good food, good friends, and LOTS of good conversation.

Sending a little love your way this Saturday morning.  I hope that wherever you are today, you are warm and dry.  It's freezing (by California standards) and rainy this morning.  So I am thankful for a warm and cozy home.

Hi All!  Happy Friday Before Thanksgiving!

Just wanted to share a quick holiday card I threw together with the help of the Cricut.  It's a bold and simple card, so it's a cinch to mass produce.  And the best part is that the card's flat, so it's easy to mail!

Have a wonderful weekend!  I'll be posting from San Francisco this weekend.  Hubby is a huge Star Trek fan (not the costume wearing kind, thank goodness!) and there happens to be a convention in town this weekend.  So he's super excited.  Me, not so much.  Oh, the things we do for love.  

It won't be a total loss though, I plan to get in plenty of shopping time.  And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Union Square is all gussied up for the holidays.  There's something super festive about doing your Christmas shopping in San Francisco.  I highly recommend it!

A Little Coloring

Happy Thursday!  Can you believe it's only a week until Thanksgiving.  My how time flies!

I have been in a coloring mood lately.  There's something so relaxing about putting on some good music and coloring.  Or maybe it could have to do with the fact that I've begun to collect Spectrum Noir markers.

I have to say I really enjoy using them.  They shade and blend beautifully.  And compared to Copic,  they are an amazing value.

The only drawback is the coloring tips.  They come with a chisel tip and bullet tip.  And I've found that it's difficult to get into tight spaces with the bullet tip.  However, rumor has it that brush tip replacements will be available soon.  So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that.

A Clean and Simple Christmas Card

I am a huge fan of clean and simple design, and that's what I strived for with today's card.  I heat embossed the snowflake and sentiment in white onto a kraft rectangle.  I attached that rectangle to my card base and traced around it with a white gel pen.  

I loved the design so much that I created a bunch of them to use as my Christmas cards this year.  I used different colors and images and they look fantastic!  There's a badly lit picture in my Instagram stream, but I will officially share them with you as soon as I put them in the mail to family to friends.

I love it when cards just design themselves, don't you?!?!  This little card started out as an over-sized design on a 12 x 12 scrapbook paper, and with some carefully planned trimming became this little card.  

The flowers just begged to be colored, so I grabbed a few Copics and colored in one of the flowers to create my focal point and to drive home the sentiment.  I added a sentiment and bing, bang, boom the card was complete!
